Holborough Lakes Residents Association recently held an Extraordinary Meeting on 26 February to review proposals for regular weekday use of the Village Hall.

The meeting formed part of HLRA’s ongoing responsibility to ensure that any future arrangement for the Hall supports the wider community, protects residents’ interests and secures the long-term future of this important shared asset .

What Was Discussed

Two proposals were considered at a high level:

  • A weekday term-time nursery use

  • A year-round weekday proposal from Holborough Bakes

Both proposals would allow the Hall to remain available for other community activities outside agreed times .

Approach Taken by HLRA

The Committee’s focus was on:

  • Protecting residents from additional financial burden

  • Ensuring practical day-to-day operation

  • Maintaining access for wider community use

  • Considering the overall benefit to Holborough Lakes

Planning advice was also noted, with no immediate change of planning use anticipated at this stage.

The discussion enabled members to review the available information and identify areas requiring further clarification before any formal agreement is reached.

Current Position & Next Steps

An indicative preference was recorded in favour of the Holborough Bakes proposal, subject to further detailed discussions and clarification of key operational points .

Those discussions are now ongoing and a further update will be shared with residents once a formalities have been agreed.

HLRA remains committed to carrying out appropriate due diligence and acting in the best interests of the whole community as we work towards a sustainable and positive outcome for the Village Hall .
